Ohio Laser Announces New 3D Laser Scanning and Quality Inspection Services
|
Plain City, Ohio, June 4, 2010 --
Ohio Laser LLC announced today that it has installed a 3D laser scanning system that can perform powerful reverse engineering services and quality control inspection documentation of parts up to 48” square.
Companies demanding quality control inspection, first article inspection or reverse engineering services will benefit greatly from this technology. Old parts can be replicated without original drawings or tooling and
new parts can be checked for exacting accuracy throughout each production run. The system gives customers peace of mind with a 100% inspection regime throughout the entire forming/assembly process. The technology improves
manufacturing efficiencies by nearly eliminating scrap, re-work and re-scheduling due to parts being out of spec.
The quality control laser scanner can inspect a part up of to 48” square of very complex geometry in
60 seconds or less and produces complete documentation of production prints.
For reverse engineering services, the scanning system can measure any flat or opaque part. The laser scanning service is suitable for most
metals, plastics, paper products, composite materials, rubbers, cork, vinyl, felt, leather and fabrics.
Other tolerances include laser scanning parts up to 200mm (8" inch) thick, with a weight of up to 90kg (200lbs).
It is ideal for sheet metal inspection, gasket inspection and any application where tolerance must be exacting.
The laser scanner can process objects up to 48" x 48" in a single scan. Most importantly, operators can
use a quick multiple scanning process to ‘merge’ parts of infinite length and up to twice the width of the 1220mm x 1220mm (48” x 48”) scan table.
Ohio Laser’s 3D laser scanning system can also:
- Generate production templates for the most important inspection dimensions.
- Gather key data on the critical specifications and dimensions of parts.
- Create inspection reports in seconds to meet quality control requirements.
- Create SPC data including charting data in a Histogram, Run Chart, and X Bar/Range plot.
The industrial 3D laser scanning system also will increase the accuracy of laser cut and fabricated metal parts in production at Ohio Laser. Ohio Laser press brake operators have enthusiastically embraced using the machine
to document parts. This has resulted in increased operator confidence in what they are producing is meeting the customers’ demands. This QC inspection method also allows for Statistical Process Control (SPC) to be used if
required and can also reverse engineer metal parts.
Ohio Laser is an ISO 9001:2008 certified metal fabricator that uses the most advanced metrology equipment, laser cutting and fabrication technologies to improve
manufacturing processes for other companies. The company offers both flat laser and tubular laser cutting services, in additional to metal fabrication services.
