Recently, we added a powerful 6000 Watt Trumpf TruLaser 5040 flat laser cutting machine to our family of four 21st Century laser cutting systems. The new Trumpf laser cutting machine features awesome laser cutting capabilities that include:
  • Plate Thickness - 1" Carbon, 1" Stainless Steel and .60" Aluminum
  • Max Speed - Axially Parallel (7874 in/min) Simultaneous (11811 in/min)
  • Sheet Size - 80" x 160", 3968 lbs
We also operate a Tubematic laser tube and pipe cutting system whose features include:
  • Cuts tubes with outside dimensions from “.75 to 6”
  • Handles carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum to .25” wall thickness
  • Processes round, oval, rectangular and squares tubes
  • Finishes holes and complex contours in one operation
  • Accommodates 21-foot long tubes or pipes made of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum
In addition to these systems, we fabricate flat laser cut parts using a 5000 Watt Trumatic 3050 and a 3000 Watt Trumatic 2530.

The benefits of laser cutting in production include almost unlimited cutting configurations, elimination of stack up tolerances inherent in multiple operations, no tooling charges, reduced lot sizes and a wide variety of metal alloys. Precision laser cutting of steel results in better parts production and reduced part distortion as a result of limited Heat Affected Zones (HAZ). Additionally, it gives fabricators and their clients an improved ability to laser cut extremely complex shapes due to the laser's X-Y-Z axis and narrower "kerf" width. Advanced CNC laser cutting systems like the ones at Ohio Laser also feature more efficient part nesting capability due to their greater programming flexibility. This allows users to make design changes very quickly while still maintaining a fast turnaround. High power laser cutting also provides sealed edges and striation-free edges which are important for meeting customer’s tolerances and specifications. This feature of laser cutting also greatly lowers the amount of potential rework on a job, and improves the finish of the part. Because Ohio Laser’s industrial laser cutting technology is highly repeatable, part quality and accuracy are more consistent than traditional cutting methods. Moreover, because laser cutting is a non-contact process, damage to especially delicate components is significantly reduced.
